Dinner Plain is a high altitude alpine village within the Alpine Shire. It is a unique place bustling with skiers in the winter, quietly beautiful in the summer, and an architectural style sitting comfortably amongst the snow gums year round.
Alpine Shire’s vision for Dinner Plain includes creating awareness within visitors and locals of Dinner Plain’s unique and fragile environment, its colourful history, and cultural significance to first peoples. Interpretive by Design was commissioned to design and manufacture an interpretive trail to be woven into the village landscape.
It was important that the structures for these signs were not only environmentally empathetic but also able to withstand the harsh alpine conditions in winter. The choice of materials was also to be in keeping with the architectural landscape and colour palette of both the village buildings and natural environment.
